Creation's production of The Tempest runs in Oxford from 19 July to 15 August 2019

Creation’s production of The Tempest runs in Oxford from 19 July to 15 August 2019

After events in London to transfers of Creation Theatre’s Dracula at the London Library and The Pit and the Pendulum at Omnibus Theatre, these site-specific specialists are luring me to their home base of Oxford to take to the streets with Shakespeare. I can’t wait!

This summer, Creation Theatre brings back the hugely popular format of their sell-out summer 2016 and 2017 productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

In small groups, the audience will convene in a secret location and discover the scenes and characters of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in the last places you’d expect to find them.

Could Ariel be bobbing by on that boat? Is Prospero serving us in this coffee shop? This immersive and interactive way of storytelling brings classic texts to life in true Creation style.

The performance will be based on Osney Mead in the west of Oxford City Centre. It starts in one central location – theatregoers are emailed in advance with details – and then moves to different locations throughout. There will be approximately 2km of walking over two-and-a-half hours.
