The third annual From Page to Stage season of new musicals takes place at the Tristan Bates Theatre, 26 October to 21 November 2015

I’m delighted to help open the third annual From Page to Stage season of new musicals, produced by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment at London’s Tristan Bates Theatre.

From Page to Stage runs from 26 October to 21 November 2015 and includes a full programme of nine new musicals received either full-scale production, readings or showcases.

Highlights include new work by Loserville’s Elliot Davis and James Bourne as well as a new piece by Tim Sanders and Charles Miller, whose Return of the Soldier premiered at Jermyn Street Theatre last year (and was nominated in the Also Recognised Awards on My Theatre Mates) after a reading as part of From Page to Stage.

More than 80 new musicals were submitted in the open application process to be considered for From Page to Stage 2015. The Gala Opening will include performances of some of the standout songs from these submissions still in development.

The works showcased are all at various stages of development. Which is exactly the point of the season, as Katy Lipson explains:

From Page to Stage serves as a platform for new writing with a focus on new British musicals and supports not only the writers, but our audiences too. We hope the season will continue to act as a strong vehicle for the development of new musicals here in the UK and help secure partners for the future of some of the works included.”

The Q&A discussion I’ll be hosting as part of the Gala Opening will consider the need for investment into the development of new musical theatre. The panel will comprise From Page to Stage producer Katy Lipson – whose many other recent producing credits include The House of Mirrors and Hearts, See What I Wanna See and Tommy – as well as a director, a musical director and a venue programmer.

The Gala Opening starts at 7.30pm on Monday 26 October 2015.
