Emma Hatton interviewed by Terri Paddock at Crazy Coqs

I’m delighted to be able to deputise for my friend and My Theatre Mates co-founder Mark Shenton for his weekly West End chat show in October. Coq-Tales and Conversations takes place each Thursday or Friday afternoon as part of the Live at Zedel season, programmed by renowned American composer Scott Alan, at the renowned “Crazy Coqs” cabaret venue at Brasserie Zedel in the heart of the West End.

As part of the hour-long Coq-Tales on Thursday 13 October 2016, I got to chat to two incredible West End leading ladies, Anna-Jane Casey and Emma Hatton, both of whom have their own cabaret shows at Brasserie Zedel this month. Anna-Jane’s immediately followed our chat last week while Emma returns with her Eva Cassidy tribute Songbird on 27 and 28 October.

In addition, Anna-Jane is about to spend Christmas in Sheffield taking the title role in the Crucible’s much-anticipated brand-new, rooting-tooting-shooting revival of Annie Get Your Gun. Emma was just seen on the green carpet celebrating the tenth anniversary of Wicked in the West End, a show for which she gained legions of fans for her performance as Elphaba.

We talked big breaks, make-up, musical influences, family connections, theatre etiquette, dream roles (Anna-Jane: Fanny Brice in Funny Girl, Emma: Carole in Beautiful – surely, we can make both of these happen?) and much else.
